Pascha Barnwell was born in Fresno, California, but spent most of her childhood overseas in Europe where she received the majority of her dance training. Upon returning to the US, she joined the State Ballet of Rhode Island as a member of the corps during her senior year of high school. After taking some time off to attend Howard University in Washington, DC, Pascha returned to her dance roots and moved to New York to attend The Ailey School’s Certificate Program. While there she performed with Genesis Dance Company and The Seventh Principle. After leaving the New York area, Pascha returned to Washington, DC to become a member of Washington Reflections Dance Company under the direction of former Dance Theatre of Harlem principal, Fabian Barnes, performing nationally and internationally for three seasons. After leaving Washington Reflections she danced with Gesel Mason Performance Projects for a season. She also returned to The Ailey School in 2010 to attend the Horton Pedagogy workshop led by Ana Marie Forsythe. While MS. Barnwell is no longer an active performer, she teaches Horton technique and ballet in the Washington metropolitan area and is currently the Registrar at MYB.
