Tuition and Registration

School-Year – The tuition is for the full school-year. Registration is not complete until you have submitted the registration materials/enrolled online, paid the non-refundable deposit ($225) and Registration Fee ($85), and selected your payment plan. Tuition is payable in full at the time of registration with a check or credit/debit card. If not paid in full at registration, automatic installment payments must be set-up with a credit/debit card. Installment payments cannot be canceled after the first two (2) weeks of your child’s enrollment. Installment payments can be made in person with cash prior to the scheduled due date. Accounts 7 days late will incur a $45 late fee.

Summer – Tuition is payable in full at the time of registration. If not paid in full at registration, automatic installment payments must be set-up with with a credit/debit card. All balances must be paid in full by June 20 (July 20 for Contemporary Dance Workshop), in order to secure enrollment in the selected classes.  You are responsible for the full tuition for the program(s) and/or weeks for which you are registering whether or not your child continues to attend MYB during any remaining portion of their enrollment.  All installment payments must be made on time, as scheduled. Any payment not received within seven (7) days of the initial payment due date will be subject to a $45 late fee.

Refunds

School-Year – You are responsible for the full tuition for the entire school-year for which you register your child, unless withdrawn within the first two (2) weeks of their enrollment. Withdrawals must be made through email or in writing prior to this deadline. Prior to and during the first two (2) weeks from the beginning of enrollment, all amounts paid for tuition are refundable minus the non-refundable deposit and any fees (including the registration fee, late fees, and returned check fees). After the first two (2) weeks of your child’s classes, you are responsible for the entire tuition balance whether or not your child continues to attend MYB during any remaining portion of their enrollment. All amounts paid or required to be paid for tuition and fees are then considered non-refundable and non-cancelable.

Summer – Withdrawal requests must be made in writing (or via email). Full refunds, less the non-refundable deposit and any fees (including the registration fee, late fees and returned check fees), will be available until June 1 for all programs beginning in June and July; July 1 for all programs beginning in August. A 50% refund, less all fees, will be available if the withdrawal request is received by June 15 or July 15 respectively. Any withdrawal requests made after that date will not be eligible for a refund and your payments will be converted to a tax-deductible donation.

Commitment to Attend

We truly expect your child to attend each and every scheduled class. Because we limit the number of children in a class we are hopeful that everyone will honor their commitment and complete the entire year. We ask that you call if you are going to be late or absent. Please be aware that if your child is more than 10 minutes late to class, the teacher will use their discretion to have your child observe class for safety reasons.

Make-Up Classes

Students are expected to take their scheduled class on a regular basis. However, lessons that are missed due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances can be made up at a later date in another class of the same or lower level according to the following policy:

Youth and Pre-Professional Divisions and Teens – All absences, verified (notice of the absence has been submitted through the Parent Portal or received by phone/email) or not, will count toward the total number of missed classes for the school year.

Inclement Weather and Emergency Closure Policy

1- If the Federal Government closes for inclement weather, MYB facilities will also close.

2- In case of other emergency closures, MYB will follow recommendations from Montgomery County Police and/or Fire Department.

3- If there are no changes posted, that means MYB is operating on schedule.

CHILDREN’S CLASSES

MYB does NOT follow Montgomery County school closings. In the event of inclement weather or other emergency, parents and students are responsible to check for changes to the MYB schedule posted on our website, our Facebook page, and Twitter by the following times:

7:00 am Sat-Sun: For classes that begin between 8:30am-2:00pm;
8:00 am Mon-Fri: For classes that begin between 9:30am-2:00pm;
12:00 pm: For classes that begin at 2:30pm or later.

Please Note:
In case of a shelter-in-place or evacuation order, if time permits, emails will be sent directly to classes affected.

Allergies

We have several students and staff with life-threatening allergies. Please do not bring any peanut products to the studios.

Photography and Video Taping

MYB does not permit taking photos or videotaping through the doorways during class time.

Cell Phone Use

Cell phones should be turned-off and may not be used or looked-at during class, at any time. If a student is expecting an urgent call, they should let the teacher know and have the call come through the front office at 301-608-2232 and staff will advise the student so that they may leave class to check their cell phone in the hallway.

Policy on Behavior and Prohibited Activities

Respect is MYB’s guiding principle. MYB is committed to providing a healthy and supportive environment that reflects this guiding principle and promotes inclusion. This policy applies to everyone at MYB, including our students and their families, MYB employees, and other guests and visitors. It applies throughout the entire MYB space, lobbies, hallways, bathrooms, studios, dressing rooms, and at MYB events.

We expect everyone, at all times, to treat each other in a respectful manner and MYB prohibits any and all inappropriate and offensive conduct, including without limitation: name calling, making malicious, false, or derogatory comments, harassment, spreading rumors and lies, gossiping, mocking or making fun of others, fighting or instigating a fight, threatening behavior, using profane, obscene or abusive language, vandalism, destruction of property, and any other conduct, whether verbal or physical, that violates MYB’s principle. This also applies to any social media postings that identify or involve MYB students or their families.

Additionally, MYB has a zero tolerance policy for all weapons, illegal drugs, and underage use of cigarettes and vaping items. This applies to students who bring a weapon or banned substance to MYB, regardless of its intended use, or arrives at MYB under the influence of alcohol or an illegal drug. While we are not responsible for the behavior of students away from MYB, we enforce this policy in our facilities and at MYB events.

MYB reserves the right to remove or dismiss anyone who MYB determines in its discretion, has engaged in any conduct in violation of any part of this policy. No refund of tuition will be given.
