Class Descriptions
Introductory Division
This first division includes Little Dancer (30 months to 4 yr. olds), Creative Movement (4 yr. olds), Ballet I (5 yr. olds), Ballet II (6 yr. olds), and Ballet III (7 yr. olds). An appreciation of dance, music, and forms of movement is emphasized.
Music and Motion
MYB’s unique Music and Motion class is designed to bring physically disabled children the freedom of movement to dance. With a recently installed, custom-designed, state-of-the-art, overhead track system, students are able to stand, walk and dance, with the equipment bearing about 75% of their weight giving the young dancers complete range of motion.
Junior Division
This division includes the beginning levels of ballet classes offered multiple times per week. Beginner, Intermediate, Preparation for Pointe, and Beginner Pointe are the levels in which technique and strength are developed to prepare girls for work in pointe shoes.
Advanced Division
The levels of Intermediate Pointe, Advanced Pointe, and Release Time comprise this division. Pointe work is further stressed for girls, and a sense of individual style is developed for all students. Release Time is for the most advanced students seriously considering a professional dance career.
Boys and Young Men Division
Boys follow parallel courses of study specifically geared towards strength and partnering. Separate coaching is scheduled for young men enrolled in the Senior Men Release Program.
Class Placement: To ensure proper class placement, all prospective students for the Junior and Advanced Divisions are required to take an audition class.
