Class Descriptions
Early Dance Division

This first division includes Dance With Me (ages 2 to 3 with adult), Little Dancer (ages 3 to 4) Creative Movement (4 to 5), Ballet I (5 yr. olds), Ballet II (6 yr. olds), and Ballet III (7 yr. olds). An appreciation of dance, music, and forms of movement is emphasized.
Dance With Me: Adult accompanied creative movement class for 2 to 3 year olds. Movement, music and storytelling are used to develop body awareness, discover creative expression, and explore the basic principals of dance while using props and musical instruments. Adult participant may be a parent, grandparent, nanny or sitter and should wear clothing that allows comfortable movement.
Little Dancer: For young dancers ages 3 to 4 years, the Little Dancer Class is designed as a program to address a child’s developmental needs and create a fun dance experience. Each session starts with activities such as bending, stretching and moving and progresses to loco-motor movements including marching, galloping and jumping. Children also focus on learning to follow directions and dance as part of a group. Individual expression and creativity is encouraged as each child learns to use their body.
Creative Movement: MYB's Creative Movement classes are designed specifically for the early development of physical motion, rhythm, and coordination of 4 and 5 year olds. Children are guided through exercises and begin to develop a sense of poise and confidence. At the same time, they are encouraged to explore their own creative expression of music and dance movement. The use of props such as scarves, fans, and balls, makes this a fun and playful experience while introducing the children to the social skills of group dynamics, self-control, and listening.
Music and Motion
MYB’s unique Music and Motion class is …designed to bring children with physical disabilities the freedom of movement to dance. With a recently installed, custom-designed, state-of-the-art, overhead track system, students are able to stand, walk and dance, with the equipment bearing about 75% of their weight giving the young dancers complete range of motion.
Junior Division
This division includes the beginning levels of ballet classes offered multiple times per week. Beginner, Intermediate, Preparation for Pointe, and Beginner Pointe are the levels in which technique and strength are developed to prepare girls for work in pointe shoes.

Advanced Division
The levels of Intermediate Pointe, Advanced Pointe, and Release Time comprise this division. Pointe work is further stressed for girls, and a sense of individual style is developed for all students. Release Time is for the most advanced students seriously considering a professional dance career.

Boys and Young Men Division
Boys follow parallel courses of study specifically geared towards strength and partnering. Separate coaching is scheduled for young men enrolled in the Senior Men Release Program.

Class Placement: To ensure proper class placement, all prospective students for the Junior and Advanced Divisions are required to take an audition class.
