Academy Policies

UNIFORM

Students should always arrive and leave MYB with their leotard and tights covered-up with a skirt, pants, jacket, etc. Ballet slippers must not be worn outside; they are not street shoes.

All Boys & Young Men – White T-shirt, black tights, white socks, white ballet shoes.

Junior Girls (Beginner, Intermediate, Preparation for Pointe) Capezio leotard #TB134C – color Black; pink tights (Capezio 1915C or 1915 – color Ballet Pink); pink ballet shoes.  Hair secured in a bun and/or pinned securely away from the dancer’s face and neck.

Senior Ladies (Beginner Pointe, Intermediate Pointe, Advanced Pointe) MotionWear leotard #2643 (#2720 long torso) – color 482 Raspberry; pink tights; pink ballet shoes.  Hair secured in a bun and/or pinned securely away from the dancer’s face and neck.

Professional Ladies MotionWear leotard #2643 (#2720 long torso) – color 474 Ultraviolet; pink tights; pink ballet shoes.  Hair secured in a bun and/or pinned securely away from the dancer’s face and neck.

Modern/Jazz/Horton – Level appropriate leotard for girls (any solid color leotard for elective classes), white t-shirt for boys, black footless tights or leggings. Bare feet for modern, bare feet or jazz shoes for jazz.

 

TUITION & REGISTRATION

The tuition year is from September 6, 2016 through June 9, 2017. Registration is not complete until you have submitted the registration materials/enrolled online, paid the non-refundable deposit ($200) and Registration Fee ($50-75), and selected your payment plan. Tuition is payable in full at the time of registration with a check, credit/debit card, or eCheck. If not paid in full at registration, automatic installment payments must be set-up with a credit/debit card or eCheck (online only). Installment payments cannot be canceled after the first two (2) weeks of your child’s enrollment. Installment payments can be made in person with cash prior to the scheduled due date.

 

REFUNDS

You are responsible for the full tuition for the entire school-year for which you register your child, unless withdrawn within the first two (2) weeks of her/his enrollment. Withdrawals must be made thru email or in writing prior to the start of classes or during the two (2) week withdrawal period. Prior to and during the first two (2) weeks from the beginning of enrollment, all amounts paid for tuition are refundable minus the non-refundable deposit ($200) and any fees (including the registration fee, late fees and returned check fees).

After the first two (2) weeks of your child’s classes, you are responsible for the entire tuition balance whether or not your child continues to attend MYB during any remaining portion of her/his enrollment. All amounts paid or required to be paid for tuition and fees are then considered non-refundable and non-cancelable.

 

COMMITMENT TO ATTEND

We truly expect your child to attend each and every scheduled class. Because we limit the number of children in a class we are hopeful that everyone will honor their commitment and complete the entire year. We ask that you call if you are going to be late or absent. Please be aware that if your child is more than 10 minutes late to class, the teacher will use his/her discretion to have your child observe class for safety reason.

 

MAKE-UP CLASSES

Lessons that are missed due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances can be made up at a later date in another class of the same or lower level. Please call or email the office to schedule all make-up classes. Upon arrival for the make-up class, you must sign in at the front office.

 

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

In the event of inclement weather, parents and students are responsible for checking for changes to the MYB schedule which will be posted on our office voice mail, our website, on our Facebook page, and on Twitter, at the following times:

7:00 am: For classes that begin between 8:30am-3:00pm
2:00 pm: For classes that begin at 4:00pm or later.

If the Federal government closes, MYB will also close.

 

ALLERGIES

We have several students with life-threatening allergies. Please do not bring any peanut products to the studios.

 

DRESSING ROOMS

Please use only the designated dressing room for your child’s class. Fathers may not enter the children’s dressing rooms or the area outside the dressing room. This is a privacy policy put in place by MYB. If possible, please try to have your child dressed for class with a cover-up, before arriving at the studio.

 

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO TAPING

MYB does not permit taking photos or videotaping thru the doorways during class time.

 

CELL PHONES

Cell phones should be turned-off and may not be used or looked-at during class, at any time. If a student is expecting an urgent call, she/he should let the teacher know and have the call come through the front office at 301-608-2232 and staff will advise the student so that she/he may leave class to check her/his cellphone in the hallway
