On March 10, 2007, an official “ribbon-cutting” of ballet shoe ribbons took place in front of MYB’s new home followed by an Open House featuring class demonstrations, performance rehearsals, and continuous videos of past MYB performances.
Later that evening, a gala birthday party was held to honor Hortensia Fonseca, MYB’s founder and artistic director. Over 200 students, parents, and alumni attended, including special guest speaker, and MYB alum, Susan Jaffe, former principal with American Ballet Theatre (ABT).
