Policies

Uniforms:

Students should always arrive and leave MYB with their leotard and tights covered-up with a skirt, pants, jacket, etc.

Ballet slippers must not be worn outside; they are not street shoes.

Early Dance Division-
Dance With Me:
Girls and Boys: Loose comfortable clothing, socks or bare feet.  Long hair must be secured.  No jewelry.

Little Dancer:
Girls: Solid color leotard (no attached skirt), pink tights, pink ballet shoes.  Long hair must be secured.  No jewelry.
Boys: White T-shirt, black tights, white socks, white shoes.

Creative Movement:
Girls: Long-sleeved leotard- Purple (Capezio TB135), pink tights (Capezio 1815C, color BPK), pink ballet shoes. Long hair must be secured. No jewelry.
Boys: White T-shirt, black tights/leggings, white socks, white shoes.

Boys and Young Men’s Division- White T-shirt, black tights, white socks, white ballet shoes.

Introductory Division- Long-sleeved leotard (MotionWear #2102K) Ballet I: color- 472 Pink, Ballet II: color- 489 Candy Pink, Ballet III: color- 490 Maroon; pink tights (Capezio 1815C- color BPK); pink ballet shoes.  Hair secured in a bun.

Junior Division- Long-sleeved leotard (Capezio TB135), color- Black; pink tights (Capezio 1815C or 1815- color BPK); pink ballet shoes.  Hair secured in a bun.

Advanced Division- MotionWear leotard #2643 (#2720 long torso), color- 482 Raspberry; pink tights; pink ballet shoes.  Hair secured in a bun.

Professional Division- MotionWear leotard #2643 (#2720 long torso), color- 474 Ultraviolet; pink tights; pink ballet shoes.  Hair secured in a bun.

Registration Information:

Early Dance Division and Introductory Division-
Placement in the Early Dance Division (ages 2-4) and the Introductory Division (ages 4-7) is by age.   Child must be minimum age by September 1st of the year.

Academy Division-
All children 8 years or older must be seen by MYB faculty before being matriculated into the program.  Children age 8-9 will not have to do a formal audition but will be screened. This process takes around 15 minutes.  All prospective students 9 years and older are required to take an audition class to ensure proper class placement. MYB is competitive and enrollment in succeeding terms depends on technical placement qualification, appropriate physical development, and space availability. The fee to audition is $20.  Please call 301-608-2232 to set up an audition or screening.

Payment:

MYB accepts payment for tuition by cash or check only. We do not accept credit cards. Tuition must be received by the dates specified on the fall/summer registration form. Failure to pay will result in dismissal from the school.

Commitment to Attend:

We truly expect your child to attend each and every scheduled class. Because we limit the number of children in a class we are hopeful that everyone will honor their commitment and complete the entire year. We ask that you call if you are going to be late or absent. Please be aware that if your child is more than 10 minutes late to class, the teacher reserves the right to ask your child observe class. This is for the safety of your child.

Make-up Classes:

Lessons that are missed due to illness can be made up at a later date in another class of the same level. Students in the Early Dance Division are allowed a maximum of two make-up classes per session.  Please call the office to schedule all make-up classes.

Class level, Promotion and Dismissals:

All decisions in regard to placement, promotions or dismissals are made by MYB faculty. Children in the Junior and Advanced divisions will receive written mid year evaluations. All parents or children that are concerned with their progress should direct the questions to their teacher. We are happy to speak to you about any concerns you may have.

Inclement Weather Policy for all children’s classes:

• When Montgomery County schools are closed for the day, MYB will be closed for the day.
• If County schools open one hour or two hours late, classes will be held as scheduled.
• If County schools close early, MYB classes in the afternoon will be canceled.
• If County schools close on time but after-school activities and/or evening activities are canceled, MYB classes will be canceled.
• If County school Saturday activities are canceled, this does not necessarily imply that MYB classes will be canceled and you should call the studio at 301-608-2232 for information for Saturday classes.
