Performance experience is a critical part of MYB’s training and our production standards simulate those of professional companies.
We provide the region with professional quality ballet productions several times a year. MYB’s performances like The Nutcracker and other classic ballets immerse the students and audiences in classical ballet history while productions like the Spring Concert expose them to innovative choreography with new works created by faculty and guest artists. Together with other performances and public appearances, MYB reaches an audience of over 15,000 people annually exposing the community to the beauty of ballet.

The Mini-Nut is MYB’s abbreviated version of The Nutcracker geared towards younger audiences. This one hour version is a great introduction to ballet for our youngest theatre goers. The performance is approximately one hour long with no intermission. A perfect holiday mini-treat!

Magical dolls, life-sized mice, dancing snowflakes, and an enchanting kingdom of sweets return to stage this holiday season for Maryland Youth Ballet’s full-length production of The Nutcracker. Set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless score, the incredible dancing and dazzling costumes bring to life the classic story of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince.

Each year MYB’s Spring Concert includes an exciting compilation of dance featuring such classical favorites as Swan Lake Act II, Les Sylphides, La Bayadere, Sleeping Beauty Act II, and Paquita. MYB faculty members as well as local choreographers like Lucy Bowen McCauley, Christopher Doyle, Alvin Mayes and the late Eric Hampton have set contemporary ballets for the professional level students. The concert offers MYB students a challenging performance opportunity and offers audience members a captivating evening of dance.
This April join MYB for an exciting Spring Concert featuring the timeless tale of Cinderella. Also presenting We Choose to Go to the Moon by Dana Thai Soon Burgess, and excerpts from the classic ballet Paquita.

Studio Company Concert

MYB’s Studio Company helps to bridge the gap between student and professional by maximizing personal coaching and performing. Studio Company dancers are selected by invitation from the upper levels of the school. The Studio Company will present a mixed repertoire concert that will include classical and contemporary works.

MYB’s Summer Festival program culminates with a storybook ballet performance at Wolf Trap’s Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods as well as several free community performances in our studio Black Box Theatre.
