This special workshop is led by Daniel Paredez, a celebrated flamenco artist and soloist with DC’s acclaimed Furia Flamenca company. Since 2006, Daniel has trained with world-renowned flamenco masters and performed at prestigious venues including the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Theater, and Gala Hispanic Theatre, as well as internationally in Puerto Rico and Nicaragua. His performances blend tradition, artistry, and powerful expression, making him one of the most dynamic flamenco dancers in the region.
Whether you’re curious to try flamenco for the first time or eager to deepen your appreciation for this iconic Spanish art form, this workshop offers a thrilling way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

About the Instructor:
Daniel Paredez began dancing flamenco in January 2006, training intensively with local flamenco artist Estela Velez and renowned flamenco masters Alejandro Granados, La Farruca, Carmela Greco, Antonio Santaella, Miguel Vargas, David Coria, Antonio Vargas, and many others. He joined Furia Flamenca, a DC Metro-area flamenco company, in 2006 and shortly thereafter became the company’s lead male dancer and a soloist.
His performances include the Washington National Opera’s production of Don Giovanni at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (2007); as a soloist in Furia Flamenca’s Lorca: Flamenco Poetry at the Alden Theatre (2009); the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage (2010); and performances at the Atlas Performing Arts Center (2011, 2015), where he was an Emerging Performer finalist at the Metro-DC Dance Awards in 2011. He also performed in Ida y Vuelta: De Donde Vienes Mestizo in Managua, Nicaragua (2011) and as a featured dancer in Teatro Lyrico DC’s La Verbena de la Paloma at the Gala Hispanic Theatre (2014).
Other performance venues include the Lincoln Theatre, National Theatre, Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater, Baltimore’s Lyric Opera House, Harmon Hall, Publick Playhouse, Dance Place, and the Jack Guidone Theater. Paredez has also performed in tablaos locally and abroad in Puerto Rico and Nicaragua. In 2009, he taught flamenco at the Kirov Academy of Ballet’s summer intensive in DC. He has supplemented his flamenco training with ballet, modern, and aerial dance.
